Forrest Song is the data controller for personal data processed via the Service (https://ai-code-detector.com). You can reach us at [email protected].
Ownership. You retain all rights to the code you upload. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process it solely to provide the Service (scanning, scoring, and generating your reports).
Storage. Single-snippet scans from anonymous visitors are processed in memory and not retained beyond transient caching. Uploaded batches and generated reports are stored so you can access your history, until you delete them or close your account.
No training. We do not use your uploaded code to train AI models.
Deletion. You can delete individual uploads and reports at any time. Closing your account deletes your uploaded code and reports from active systems within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days.
You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with your institution's policies and applicable law (including FERPA where applicable). We recommend removing student names, IDs, and other direct identifiers from files before uploading.
You may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or object to processing of your personal data. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. Account data export and deletion are also available self-serve in your dashboard.
Our legal bases: account and payment data are processed to perform our contract with you; security and abuse-prevention logs under legitimate interest; non-essential cookies (none at launch) would be set only with your consent.
Where your data is stored and processed. Your account data, uploaded batches, and reports are stored on cloud infrastructure located in the United States. The scanning engine runs on self-hosted infrastructure located in mainland China: code you submit for scanning is transmitted over an encrypted tunnel (Cloudflare Tunnel) and processed in mainland China, where data-protection rules may differ from those in your country. Scan results are returned to and stored with your account data in the United States.
International transfers (EU/UK note). We do not actively target or market the Service to users in the EU/UK at launch. If you choose to use the Service from the EU/UK, please be aware that code you submit for scanning is processed in mainland China, a jurisdiction that has not received an adequacy decision; by submitting code you acknowledge this processing location. Your stored account data remains with our US-based providers.
We do not sell personal information.
The Service is not directed to children under 13.
If we change how we handle code or personal data, we will update this page and, for material changes, notify account holders by email before the change takes effect.
